Thank you for your interest in the Georgia Foster Care Student Scholarship. Due to limited funding, the Georgia Student Finance Authority is not currently determining initial eligibility for the Georgia Foster Care Scholarship applications. Should additional funding become available, complete applications will be reviewed in the order in which they were received. We appreciate you taking the time to complete an application because it demonstrates the demand for the scholarship program.
Application Procedure & Deadline for Foster Care Scholarship
Students attending or planning to attend a Georgia Foster Care Scholarship eligible college or university should complete the Georgia Foster Care Scholarship Application to assist with direct costs charged by approved schools.
Completing the form does not guarantee a scholarship, but it helps demonstrate need and interest as GSFC pursues additional funding. Applications are processed and awarded on a first come first serve basis. As long as funds are available, approved applications will be awarded.
Students must complete the following when applying for the Georgia Foster Care Scholarship:
- Complete the current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Required each year he or she intends to apply for this scholarship.
- Successfully complete any required FAFSA verification process with the college’s financial aid office.
- Complete and submit the one-time Georgia Foster Care Scholarship Application to GSFA.
- Submit supporting documentation of his or her Georgia Foster Care Scholarship case to GSFA.
- Upload your supporting documentation to GSFA through GAfutures Document Upload.
- To upload documents, students must have a GAfutures student account with a valid SSN for secure identification. (GAfutures accounts are secure and are not shared).
- If you need assistance creating your GAfutures account, please reach the Contact Center at 1.800.505.GSFC (4732).
- Annually, Georgia Foster Care Scholarship Recipients will need to confirm with GSFA continued enrollment at an eligible school so continued eligibility can be determined with the college.
Application Deadline
The Georgia Foster Care Scholarship application should be submitted as early as possible before the 1st day of the first term a student wishes to be considered for the program.
