Repayment Options
Repayment options depend on loan type and disbursement history. If you receive a new Direct Loan, including a Direct Consolidation Loan, on or after July 1, 2026, all your Direct Loans must be repaid under Tiered Standard or, for eligible loans, the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP). Parent PLUS Loans and consolidation loans that repay Parent PLUS Loans are not eligible for RAP. Borrowers without newer Direct Loans may qualify for older repayment plans. Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program options differ.
